In 1972, during the latter half of the Vietnam War, the U.S. Air Force resumed large-scale air operations with the "Northern Bombing" campaign. Captain Cunningham and Lieutenant Driscoll were the Navy pilots who shot down five enemy fighter planes during this period and became the first US Navy aces in the Vietnam War. The plane they flew when they shot down three planes in one mission and became an "ace" had the radio call number "Showtime 100."
