[Product introduction]
TAMIYA 1/48 Grumman F-14D Tomcat.
[A collection of the strongest carrier-based fighters]
From its first flight in 1970 until its retirement in 2006, the U.S. Navy's F-14 Tomcat continued to fly as the world's strongest air defense carrier-based fighter. Initially, its main mission was fleet air defense, but from the 1980s it was equipped with a reconnaissance camera pod and also engaged in reconnaissance missions. Since the 1990s, it has demonstrated its ability in ground attacks, and since the late 1990s, it has been equipped with lantern targeting pods and laser-guided bombs, making it possible to carry out precision attacks from long distances. After that, equipment was further enhanced, and the Tomcat evolved into a multi-role fighter with excellent ground attack and reconnaissance capabilities. The engine of the first production F-14A was P&W TF30, but in the F-14B it was replaced with GE F110-GE-400. The further improved F-14D has a digital radar fire control system, increasing detection range and processing speed. F-14D, the final production type of the series, was produced in 55 units and began deployment in 1992. - It was active in patrol missions in southern Iraq, counter-terrorism operations in Afghanistan, and air support and reconnaissance during the Iraq War.
[Model Information]
This is a plastic model assembly kit of the F-14D, the final production type of the F-14. 1/48 scale, total length 398mm, total width 408mm (when the main wing is forward). Based on detailed interviews with actual machines, the elegant and voluminous style is faithfully reproduced. The biggest feature is the variable wings, which allow both wings to move in conjunction. The airbags and ceiling panels, which fill the gap between the wing and the fuselage as it moves, are replaceable, allowing you to enjoy both the wing forward and backward states even after completion. All the features of the D type are modeled, including the F110-GE-400 engine nozzle, vertical tail reinforcement plate, and parallel chin pod on the underside of the nose. A rich set of weapons such as laser-guided bombs, GPS-guided bombs, lantern pods, reconnaissance camera pods, jamming pods, and late-model air-to-air missiles. Various combinations of armament are possible, including fleet air defense specifications, ground attack specifications, and reconnaissance specifications. The internal camera of the reconnaissance camera pod is also made into parts. We also have metal stickers that reproduce the side reinforcement panels of the aircraft. In addition to the D-type ejection seat, there is also a doll that looks like a current US Navy pilot without a visor case. Includes 4 types of markings for aircraft belonging to the US Navy. 213th Fighter Squadron “Black Lions” wing commander aircraft 101st Fighter Squadron “Grim Reapers” aircraft 2nd Fighter Squadron “Bounty Hunters” wing commander aircraft F110 mounted on B and D types -GE-400 engine nozzle is reproduced in one part. We achieved both ease of assembly and reproducibility. Vertical tail that accurately reproduces the enlarged reinforcement plate. Equipped with a parallel type chin pod on the underside of the nose. The Vulcan cannon smoke exhaust slit on the left side also reproduces the difference from the A type. In addition to the D-type ejection seat, there's also a doll that looks like a current US Navy pilot without a visor case. The canopy, which reproduces the bubble-shaped cross section, can be opened or closed even after completion. Accurately models the specifications of the D type, including the front seat with a digital display device and the rear seat with a display that displays information on the lantern pod. The refueling probe on the right side of the nose can be deployed or retracted. The main wings can be moved steplessly from a forward position of 20 degrees to a retreat position of 68 degrees, and up to 75 degrees for use when the aircraft is parked. The left and right main wings are reliably interlocked by gear meshing. The airbags and ceiling panels, which fill the gap between the wing and the fuselage as it moves, are replaceable, allowing you to enjoy both the wing forward and backward states even after completion. There is a mold on the back side of the part that shows the main wing position and left and right. AIM-9L/M Sidewinder, AIM-7F Sparrow, AIM-54C Phoenix air-to-air missiles, GBU-12 laser-guided bombs, and GBU-16 laser-guided bombs. GBU-31 GPS guided bomb, AN/ALQ-167 jamming pod, AN/AAQ-25 lantern pod, and reconnaissance camera pod are also included. Various installation patterns can be selected for various missiles and weapons. A reconnaissance camera pod with even the internal camera parts reproduced. The launcher for the Sidewinder reproduces a different shape from the A type. The markings are selected from four popular types from the US Navy Fighter Squadron. We have also prepared mask stickers for coloring the canopy.
