[Product Introduction]
TAMIYA 1/48 Grumman F-14A Tomcat.
[The strongest carrier-based fighter with variable wings]
From its first flight in 1970 until its retirement in 2006, the US Navy's F-14 Tom continued to fly as the world's strongest air defense carrier-based fighter. This is Kat. Adopting variable wings that can automatically control the sweep angle of the main wing, it achieves both high-speed performance and excellent maneuverability. It also combines a powerful radar fire control system (AN/AWG-9) with the Phoenix missile, which has a range of 150 km, to achieve unparalleled interception capabilities. Of the 632 Tomcats produced in total, 477 of the early production F-14A were produced for the US Navy. Deployment to aircraft carrier units began in 1973, and made its first sortie during the Saigon evacuation operation in 1975. After that, he continued to serve in a wide range of missions in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. In addition, exports were made to Iran outside of the United States. By the late 1970s, 79 aircraft had been delivered, and they fought hard in interception missions during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. Even now, the Iranian Air Force maintains its own equipment and deploys it on the front lines as the main force of air defense.
[About the model]
This is a plastic model assembly kit of the F-14A, the early production type of the F-14. 1/48 scale, total length 398mm, total width 408mm (when the main wing is forward). Based on detailed interviews with actual machines, the elegant and voluminous style is faithfully reproduced. The biggest feature is the variable wings, which allow both wings to move in conjunction. The airbags and ceiling panels, which fill the gap between the wing and the fuselage as it moves, are replaceable, allowing you to enjoy both the wing forward and backward states even after completion. The canopy, air intake sides, and fuselage sides use slide molds to sharply reproduce the shape and mold. The horizontal stabilizer is movable using a polycap. The engine nozzle can be either closed or fully open. The refueling probe on the right side of the nose, the boarding ladder and footrest on the left side can be opened or closed. Includes 3 types of markings: 2 types of aircraft belonging to the US Navy from the 1970s and 1 type belonging to the Iranian Air Force from the 1980s. The canopy reproduces the bubble-shaped cross section using a slide mold. You can choose to open or close it even after completion. The set includes two figures: a pilot in a seated position and a radar interception officer (RIO). Inside the cockpit, the ejection seat and meter panel are precisely reproduced. Centering around a unit that combines the cockpit and nose gear storage, the left and right nose parts are pasted together to ensure both reliable assembly and strength. The refueling probe on the right side of the nose can be deployed or retracted. The refueling probe is stored and the cover is attached. The main wing is inserted into the core spar part after the aircraft is assembled. Consideration has been given to ease of painting. The main wings can be moved steplessly from a forward position of 20 degrees to a retreat position of 68 degrees, and up to 75 degrees for use when the aircraft is parked. The left and right main wings are reliably interlocked by gear meshing. The airbags and ceiling panels, which fill the gap between the wing and the fuselage as it moves, are replaceable, allowing you to enjoy both the wing forward and backward states even after completion. There is a mold on the back side of the part that shows the main wing position and left and right. Phoenix, Sparrow, and Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. In addition to 4 air-to-air missiles each, 2 additional tanks are also included. You can choose from three mounting patterns. Missile belts and cautionary notes are reproduced with decals. There are two types of engine nozzles to choose from: a closed state when cruising, and a fully open state when using the afterburner. Set slide marks for markings and stencils. We have also prepared mask stickers for coloring the canopy.
