Plastic Models
[Scale] 1/700
Product Introduction The well-balanced Shokaku-class first ship among the large aircraft carriers of the Japanese Navy is now available with new parts! The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing and painting.
The scale is 1/700, and the offshore model does not include the bottom of the ship.
This product is made up of a conventional (special series) mold and newly designed additional parts.
The Shokaku-class aircraft carriers were planned under the Maru 3 Plan, the same period as the Yamato-class battleships, and were completed at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in August 1941, just before the outbreak of the Pacific War.
Together with the second ship, Zuikaku, the 5th Air Squadron participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Battle of the Coral Sea was the first naval battle between aircraft carriers in history.
With the loss of Akagi and the other four ships, which were the mainstay of the air force, Shokaku continued to be the core of the task force until the Battle of the Mariana Sea in June 1944.
It was destroyed in the same battle by a torpedo attack from a US submarine.
The product is based on the attack on Pearl Harbor, which started the Pacific War, and the period after that.
- Radar and additional machine guns are not installed, so the ship can be recreated in a state close to when it was first completed.
Newly designed parts are available to standardize the differences in the reproduction of equipment, etc. depending on the product release date, and some parts are divided to take painting into consideration. The 12.7 cm twin anti-aircraft gun A-type is divided into 4 parts, and the modeling resolution is improved from the existing 2 parts.
・The 12.7cm twin anti-aircraft gun A1 Kai 2 with soot shield is divided into 4 parts, with improved modeling resolution.
- The 12m internal combustion engine boat has separate parts for the canvas, wheelhouse and engine room canopy, taking painting into consideration.
Each painting is done and assembly and bonding are done later.
-New chrysanthemum crest on the bow
- The boat is made of three parts, with the main body and the floor of the loading area being separate parts, and can be assembled after painting, eliminating the need for masking.
・The 12m internal fire launch can now be expressed without the canvas
- The shipboard stand has a molded uneven shape and light holes, giving it a more precise appearance.
- A pair of side lights, which have not been modeled until now, are now available as additional parts.
- Added a decal with the ship name on the stern (painted in battleship colors).
- The Type 96 25mm twin machine gun is now standardly made of two parts, reducing the amount of painting required.
- The antenna parts on the left and right sides of the flight deck are integrated parts that can be easily assembled by combining them with existing parts.
・The hull is a one-piece structure on both the starboard and left sides.
The exterior electrical wiring installed in preparation for the ship's launch and the numerous portholes are recreated with delicate carvings.
The flight deck is a one-piece molded part, with detailed carvings of the wooden decking, anti-slip steel decking, expansion joints, etc.
- The girder structure behind the flight deck is expressed in three dimensions.
- Elevators and windbreaks are available as separate parts.
The edge of the flight deck is intricately carved with a split pattern.
- The anchor chain deck and short boat deck feature intricately carved anti-slip split patterns.
The chimney is a two-part structure that is glued together from the top and bottom, with the parting line set in an inconspicuous position.
- The anti-aircraft gun mounts and machine gun mounts on the sides of the ship are made into separate parts, and the striped pattern on the floor is expressed with intricate carvings.
- The bridge is equipped with binocular telescope parts that enhance the sense of precision.
- 15 aircraft are included, including 5 each of Zero Fighter Type 21, Type 99 Carrier Bomber, and Type 97 Carrier Attack Plane, molded in gray
- The 25mm twin machine gun is precisely sculpted and comes in two parts for easy painting, with the 2018 model molded parts included as standard.
