Amazingly sharp lens. The ultimate zoom portrait lens for crop sensor bodies. Using this on my A6300 with Sigma's adapter and getting killer results! It's a tad soft at 1.8, but gets very sharp at f/2.

In video these days producers want to see that creamy out of focus background behind the interview subject. The best way to get that generally is with a short telephoto, fast prime lens.But what happens if 85mm is too long- or 50mm kid just too wide?Sigma came out with the perfect solution with this50-100 f1.8 the only complaint I have is that it weights about 500 pounds.I am sure they could have reduced the weight on this bruiser- but it is still totally worth it!

This lens and the Sigma 18-35 are the only lenses I use now for video. The optical quality is so good I've retired my Canon prime lenses.The only draw back is that this lens does not cover Full Frame. It's great for a Super35 sensor, wish I could use it on my 5D....Great Lens, buy it!
