◆High resolution and contrast The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm F2.8 Macro is a single lens that boasts excellent close-up performance, with a minimum focusing distance of 19cm and an 1x magnification. A medium-focus telephoto macro lens. In order to maintain high descriptive performance from long distances to macro photography at 1:1 magnification, we have adopted a floating type inner focus AF mechanism with three drive systems. The lens configuration consists of an ED (extra-low dispersion) lens and an HR (high refractive index) lens in the fixed group, and an HR lens and an E-HR (extra high refractive index) lens in the focus group, making it possible to create telephoto lenses. The color fringing that is easily noticeable with a macro lens is thoroughly removed. This maintains high resolution and high contrast from infinity to the shortest focusing distance, from the center of the screen to the periphery, and achieves sharp depiction performance even from the widest aperture.

◆High-speed and quiet autofocus with ``MSC mechanism'' The ``MSC mechanism'' installed in this lens was developed to achieve high-speed and quiet focusing with a lightweight and small number of lenses. This is an advanced optical design technology. By eliminating gears that cause operating noise and adopting a mechanism consisting of a metal shaft finished with submicron precision and a feed screw (screw drive), the focus lens is directly driven. This lens uses a floating type inner focus system using this "MCS mechanism", and focuses by optimally controlling three drive systems. This achieves fast, quiet, and smooth autofocus drive.
