[ EF65 1000 Series (Late Model JR Specification Gray H-Rubber) (M) ]?Introduction to the Actual Vehicle? The EF65 1000 series appeared in 1969 as a general-purpose DC electric locomotive that could be widely used for passenger and freight trains, and played an active role in pulling various trains such as Blue Trains and freight trains on DC flat electrified sections throughout Japan. After the transition to JR, the JR mark was added to the body, and there were differences in appearance from the JNR era, such as a change in roof color and the addition of a radio antenna. EF65 1118 appeared in 1997 due to the aging of EF65 1019, which was the first Rainbow painted locomotive. A distinctive feature is the design in which the "EF65" logo, which is large on the side of the body, is also applied to the side glass. Initially, the H-rubber on each part was gray, but it was changed to black during the inspection in March 2000. Also, an air conditioning system was installed in 2006, and the part of the "EF65" logo that overlapped the side window was omitted during the inspection in 2009.
