Top-level imaging performance, fast AF, and compactness. A new standard for large-aperture standard lenses (Art F1.4) with a high level of harmony. Mount: Sony E-mount, full-frame compatible. Focal length: 50mm. Max aperture: F1.4. Filter diameter: 72mm. Art Line / [50MMF14DGDNARTSE] 50MMF14DGDNARTSE Released February 2023
Uncompromising optical performance, meeting the "Art F1.4" standard. Built using the latest optical design technology, the 14-element lens in 11 groups features optimal placement of three aspherical lenses and one SLD glass element. This effectively suppresses aberrations, such as astigmatism and field curvature, that cannot be corrected by the camera's built-in functions. Despite its large F1.4 aperture, it delivers superior imaging performance at the periphery of the frame and minimizes sagittal coma flare, providing ample performance even at maximum aperture, even when capturing starry skies and nightscapes, which demand precise rendering of point light sources. In addition to clear, precise image quality with no color fringing across the entire frame, you can fully utilize the natural, large bokeh inherent to F1.4. The high-speed AF 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the first lens in the Art line, specifically designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, to feature a linear motor (HLA, High-response Linear Actuator), ensuring light and comfortable shooting. Furthermore, the focus lens uses a single double-sided aspherical lens, providing fast, quiet focusing and excellent tracking performance despite the large aperture. The bright F1.4 aperture and high-performance AF make it suitable for a wide range of scenes, from low-light photography to moving subject photography, snapshots, and even video recording. High performance, yet slim and compact. Designed for ease of holding when attached to a camera, this lens is a key consideration for mirrorless systems, which have become increasingly compact. The lens barrel is slim and easy to hold, thanks to the clever layout of each glass material and mechanism. Without compromising on the Art concept of "prioritizing optical performance," the lens pursues the "optimal size" required for mirrorless systems. It successfully combines top-class performance with a size that makes it a nimble and mobile photographic tool. It boasts a wealth of functionality and high build quality. It features a focus mode selector switch, an aperture ring click switch that turns the click on and off, an aperture ring lock switch to prevent unintentional operation, and an AFL button that can be assigned any function from the camera. Designed for intuitive operation during shooting, the lens also features a dust- and splash-proof construction and a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front of the lens, making it suitable for a variety of shooting environments.
