The 369 is a two-channel stereo compressor/limiter based on the legendary 33609* circuit and featuring a custom MIDAS transformer. Master bus compression was essential in the early days of broadcasting to prevent live signals from damaging listeners' speakers. While final dynamic control remains crucial today, back then, music producers discovered that using a high-quality compressor on the master bus created a kind of "glue" that gently weaves the individual tracks of a stereo mix together, creating a sense of unity and power at the same time. The Behringer 369 was inspired by one of the most famous stereo compressors of that era, the legendary 33609*. The 369 is not simply a remake; the legacy and DNA of the original 33609* are preserved in the 369. Engineers who worked with the original designers contributed their knowledge and experience to ensure the 369 is as faithful to the original as possible. Classic-style two-channel stereo compressor/limiter with custom-designed MIDAS transformers. Features: The 369 is a two-channel stereo compressor/limiter based on the legendary 33609* circuit and featuring custom MIDAS transformers. Master bus compression was essential in the early days of broadcasting to prevent live signals from damaging listeners' speakers. While final dynamic control is still crucial today, back then, music producers discovered that using a high-quality compressor on the master bus had a glue-like effect, gently tying together the individual tracks of a stereo mix, creating a sense of unity and power at the same time. The Behringer 369 was inspired by one of the most famous stereo compressors of that era, the legendary 33609*. The 369 is no mere remake; the legacy and DNA of the original 33609* are preserved in the 369. Developed by engineers who worked with the original creators, the 369 is as faithful to the original as possible, leveraging their knowledge and experience. Dual-channel operation: The 369 features both a compressor and a limiter, offering two distinct modes for controlling the dynamics of any signal passing through it. The compressor provides a more subtle, musical compression, while the limiter more aggressively suppresses peaks. Rotary switches allow precise and repeatable adjustment of each section's settings. You can even set both channels to the same setting depending on the mix's needs. The Golden Ratio 369 Compressor offers a wide range of controls to smoothly and musically adjust the dynamic range without compromising the natural sound quality or atmosphere you established during your recording or mix. Adjustable threshold, recovery time, gain, and ratio control determine when compression begins, how quickly it compresses, and when it releases. Compression ratios ranging from 1.5:1 to 6:1 allow for gentle or aggressive adjustments to suit your music. The Recovery preset automatically applies a standard decay time based on the signal, resulting in smooth, musical dynamics. Fast Peak Limiter: The 369's limiter controls peaks and dynamics more aggressively than a compressor. The Threshold determines the specific level at which the limiter kicks in, while the Recovery parameter adjusts how quickly it returns to normal. By combining Recovery Time, which can be set from 50 to 800 ms, with Threshold and fast or slow Attack times, you can find the perfect balance between a dancefloor-ready pump and a gentle peak suppression in your final mix. Additional Control: As a two-channel compressor, the 369 offers one-touch stereo or mono mode switching. The compressor and limiter can also be independently bypassed for greater operational flexibility. A control switch allows for internal control (mono/stereo switching and bypass setting on the front panel) or external control. External control is supported via the rear Tandem control voltage socket. 2-channel stereo compressor and limiter based on the legendary 33609* design. Custom-built MIDAS input and output transformers. Class A, all-discrete circuit design for maximum signal purity. Wide range of compression ratios: 1.5:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 6:1. Switchable slow/fast attack times for each compressor and limiter. Compressor recovery time: 100-1,500 ms with two auto-release presets. Limiter recovery time: 50-800 ms (with two auto-release presets) Dedicated threshold selectors for both compressor and limiter Variable makeup gain adjustment for warmth and grit Compressor and limiter can be bypassed independently Selectable as linked stereo mode or dual mono compressor Two vintage-style gain reduction meters Transformer-balanced inputs and outputs on XLR connectors Rugged 2U rackmount chassis for portability Audio input type: 2x XLR, transformer-balanced Impedance: 10 kΩ (default) / 600 Ω (internal option)** Maximum input level: > +26 dBu Audio output type: 2x XLR, transformer-balanced Impedance: < 75 Ω (balanced) Maximum output level: > +26 dBu into 600 Ω load System specifications Frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz, ±0.5 dB Distortion (THD+N): < 0.03%, 50 Hz - 20 kHz, +4 dBu, Compressor & Gate ON, Attack = Slow Noise: -79 dBu, 22 Hz - 22 kHz (unweighted), Compressor & Gate ON, Attack = Slow Circuit: Discrete Class A Limiter Threshold: 2x rotary switches, +4 dBu +15 dBu (0.5 dBu steps) Recovery Time: 2x rotary switches, 50 ms, 100 ms, 200 ms, 800 ms, a1: 100 ms to 2 s, a2: 50 ms to 5 s Limit In/Out: 2x toggle switches Attack Fast/Slow: 2x toggle switches, Fast = 2 ms, Slow = 4 ms Power Requirements Power Consumption: Max 28 W Power Connector: Standard IEC Fuse: T 1.6 A H 250 V Physical Specifications Standard Operating Temperature Range: 5°C ~ 45°C (41°F) 113°F) Dimensions (H x W x D): 88 x 483 x 159 mm Weight: 3.48 kg ■ Management code: 4033653081962 Category: DTM Recording equipment effects/outboard instruments, crafts, collection instruments, recording equipment, PA equipment recording effects JAN/ISBN code: 4033653081962 Product code: mt0190503
