The MAS Motoscafo armato silurante (Italian: "torpedo armed motorboat"), was a class of fast armed torpedo vessel used by the Regia Marina (Italian Royal Navy) during World War I and 2. Italeri provides a detailed example of one of many "splinter fleet" vessels, (US PT , British Vosper etc) that look great on display or as noted can be converted to RC.The part fit is superb. There is enough photoetch to add detail without going overboard. Part count is not high proving you can get a great display piece without taking the approach that more parts = higher quality.Minimal flash and I appreciate that the one-piece deck can be screwed into hull and then covered over with plastic caps. Clear windows have dark painted edging (for ease of attachment) to the wheelhouse window frames that are large enough to allow you to see inside. Circular photo-etch wipers attached to three front window frames look terrific. A plastic jig is included to help bend provided PE supports to hold the orange life rings on side of the wheel house. Options to display hatches including door to wheelhouse open or closed. Clear windows also for hatches and the aft deck house portholesTwo paint schemes, but boat 563 with Italian red and white diagonal air ident. marking on the foredeck adds a color splash to overall light and dark gray.The kit is a pleasure to work on. Well crafted with no surprises. Does not take up a workbench but is scaled large enough that you really do not need a visor to deal with mini bits.Pick this up "especially" if you like this vessel class or even if you have not built one. Gem of a kit with a great price.5 out of 5.
