Polished optical performance befits the new Art F1.4. The 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art's primary feature is its superior optical performance, embodying the Art line's concept of prioritizing optical performance. Built using the latest optical design technology, the 15-element, 11-group lens incorporates two SLD elements, one ELD element, one FLD element, two aspherical lenses, and the latest glass materials to thoroughly correct axial chromatic aberration, which cannot be corrected by the camera's built-in functions. Despite its large F1.4 aperture, sagittal coma flare is minimized, providing excellent performance even at full aperture, even when shooting starry skies and nightscapes, which demand exceptional performance in depicting point light sources. In addition to clear, detailed image quality without color fringing, the large, natural bokeh characteristic of F1.4 is fully utilized. Furthermore, thanks to flare and ghosting countermeasures developed through years of lens development simulations and real-life testing, excellent backlighting performance is also achieved. We've incorporated all of our current technology to create optical performance worthy of the new Art F1.4, with no compromises in any aspect.
Smooth Autofocus and Compactness: The 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art's focus drive system utilizes a stepping motor. By using a single lens element and keeping it lightweight, we've taken advantage of the stepping motor's advantages to achieve fast focusing and smooth autofocus with excellent tracking of moving subjects. By utilizing a dedicated optical design optimized for a short flange focal distance and the camera body's aberration correction function, the lens body has been made smaller and lighter than that of an SLR camera, while maintaining the large F1.4 aperture. It maintains the Art concept of prioritizing optical performance, AF performance, and the convenience of compactness, all without compromising on a high level of functionality.
Rich Functionality and High Build Quality: The lens body is equipped with a focus mode switch and an AFL button that can be assigned to any function from the camera. The aperture ring is equipped with an aperture ring click switch that turns the click on/off and an aperture ring lock switch to prevent unintentional operation, providing greater flexibility in aperture operation, one of the great benefits of a large aperture lens. The included flower-shaped hood also features a locking mechanism to prevent it from falling off, and rubber grips for easy attachment and removal during shooting. In addition to its rich functionality, the body boasts high build quality thanks to high-precision manufacturing technology.
