By intentionally limiting the zoom range to 17-28mm, we achieved an incredibly lightweight and compact design with a length of just 99mm and a weight of just 420g. Furthermore, the filter diameter of φ67mm is small for a large-aperture ultra-wide-angle zoom lens. Its generous use of LD lens elements, a special glass with anomalous dispersion properties, and XLD lens elements with properties similar to fluorite thoroughly suppresses chromatic aberration and other aberrations. Furthermore, the highly effective BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating on the lens surface reduces ghosting and flare, which can easily occur when shooting backlit scenes such as sunsets. The short minimum focusing distance allows you to get close enough to your subject to capture a dynamic shot. Not only can you take advantage of the perspective inherent to ultra-wide-angle lenses, making close subjects appear larger and distant subjects appear smaller, but you can also open the aperture to get closer to the subject and blur the background, creating a softer effect with the shallow depth of field only possible with a large aperture. The high-performance AF/AF drive ensures you never miss a shot. It is equipped with a proprietary RXD stepping motor unit. RXD is an actuator that precisely controls the motor's rotation angle, allowing it to directly drive the focus lens without using a reduction gear. Combined with a sensor that accurately detects lens position, this enables fast and precise AF. Not only does it accurately capture moving subjects, but it also demonstrates its capabilities in video recording. A circular diaphragm for beautiful circular bokeh. The nine-blade circular diaphragm ensures that the circular bokeh produced when photographing point light sources remains circular. It maintains a nearly perfect circle even when stopped down two stops from the maximum aperture.
Anti-fouling coating appliedThe front of the lens element is coated with an anti-fouling coating made from a fluorine compound that has excellent water- and oil-repellent properties.Even if water droplets or hand grease get on it, it is easy to wipe off, making maintenance easy.
