A classic angle of view with a modern lens design. The 28mm focal length has been a representative wide-angle lens since the days of film, and it remains a popular angle of view for enthusiasts today. For this reason, we have received many requests for a 28mm angle of view with Art Line quality. In response to these requests, we began development, leveraging the know-how of our previous Art F1.4 prime lenses to incorporate the latest design, materials, and processing techniques. This classic lens from the Art Line prime series is finally here.
Achieving best-in-class performance with two FLD glass elements and three SLD glass elements. Furthermore, the strategic placement of three aspherical lens elements, including a large-diameter aspherical lens, thoroughly corrects lateral chromatic aberration, a particular concern with wide-angle lenses. High resolution is achieved all the way to the edges of the image, while sagittal coma flare is thoroughly corrected and distortion is adequately reduced. This lens delivers optimal performance for a wide range of subjects, from landscapes to snapshots and stargazing.
Designed for Use in Any Environment: The front lens element is coated with a water-repellent and grease-resistant coating, and the lens is dust- and moisture-resistant with various sealing elements for superior performance even in the most challenging shooting environments. The high-speed AF of the HSM ultrasonic motor with the latest algorithm ensures instantaneous shutter capture.
Water- and Grime-Resistant Coating: The front and rear lens elements are coated with a water- and grease-resistant coating, which allows water droplets to be easily wiped away and prevents oil and grease from adhering. This ensures comfortable use even in harsh conditions and simplifies lens surface maintenance.
Dust- and moisture-resistant construction: Designed for the most demanding professional shooting conditions. Dust- and splash-proof construction prevents dust and dirt from entering the lens mount, manual and zoom rings, custom switches, and other operating controls, as well as the switch panel and exterior joints. The high-speed HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) delivers fast and quiet AF. The hood features a locking switch to prevent accidental removal. MO (Manual Override) allows you to switch to manual focus by rotating the focus ring, even during continuous AF. Flare- and ghost-resistant design: Thorough measures were taken to prevent flare and ghosting from the early stages of lens design, ensuring the lens is unaffected by strong incident light, such as backlight. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, ensuring high-contrast images even in backlit situations. The included petal-shaped hood effectively blocks harmful light and prevents internal reflections. High-precision, robust brass bayonet mount.
