This lens construction features 17 elements in 12 groups, including two XR (high refractive index) glass elements for effective correction of various aberrations, three LD (low dispersion) lenses for reducing axial chromatic aberration, which is common at telephoto positions, and lateral chromatic aberration, which is a problem at wide-angle positions. It also features three GM (glass-molded aspherical) lenses and one hybrid aspherical lens for effective correction of spherical aberration and distortion, achieving superior image quality. In addition, the use of glass materials with higher transmittance achieves excellent color reproduction and imaging performance.
The lens delivers clear images that suppress ghosting and flare, even in backlit conditions, by combining an ultra-low refractive index nanostructured film with conventional multi-coating technology. The eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Auger-Dependency) coating and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating provide high anti-reflection performance, optimizing the coating. This effectively suppresses ghosting and flare, which are common in backlit situations.
