The 16-30mm F2.8 G2 expands its focal length from 17mm at the wide-angle end to 16mm and from 28mm at the telephoto end to 30mm. This allows for a wider field of view, expanding the freedom of expression. The wide-angle end is ideal for dynamic architectural and landscape photography, emphasizing perspective and depth. Furthermore, you can take advantage of the wide field of view only an ultra-wide-angle lens can provide, allowing you to capture portraits that boldly incorporate the background. At the telephoto end, a more natural angle of view is ideal for snapshots and travel photography, allowing you to flexibly handle a variety of scenes with just one lens.

It employs one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) lens, two LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements, and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements, effectively suppressing chromatic and other aberrations. Its excellent optical performance delivers high resolution throughout the entire zoom range, faithfully capturing the finest details of landscapes (starscapes) and architecture. Another notable feature is the soft bokeh produced by the large f/2.8 aperture. Natural foreground and background bokeh highlights the subject, allowing for impressive close-up shots. Furthermore, the bright f/2.8 aperture allows for clear images even in dark environments without increasing ISO sensitivity.
