The all-new optical design delivers uncompromising optical performance across the entire 70-180mm zoom range, with a lens construction of 20 elements in 15 groups. The optical design was completely redesigned, and the generous and optimal placement of special glass elements (one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) lens element, one hybrid aspherical lens element, three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements, and two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements) efficiently suppresses chromatic and other aberrations, delivering uncompromising high resolution performance throughout the entire zoom range.
