A large-aperture wide-angle lens with an F1.2 maximum aperture that is effective for landscape and documentary photography. Mount: Micro Four Thirds. Focal length: 17mm (equivalent to 34mm in 35mm format). Aperture: F1.2. Filter diameter: 62mm. Dust- and splash-proof construction. / [ED17MMF12PRO] [report] ED17MMF12PRO Released in January 2018. Camera Grand Prix Lens Award winner for the third consecutive year! The "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 17mm F1.2 PRO" won the "Lens Award" at Camera Grand Prix 2018!
Depiction performance that thoroughly focuses on achieving both high-quality bokeh and high resolution. "Beautifully blurred bokeh" at the F1.2 maximum aperture. "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 17mm F1.2 With the "F1.5 PRO," we've paid careful attention to creating beautifully blurred bokeh, which blends from the in-focus plane to the out-of-focus plane, while also smoothly depicting the background. This results in high-quality bokeh that further enhances the three-dimensionality of main subjects such as people.
An ultra-precise aberration measuring instrument that made "beautifully blurred bokeh" possible. To achieve "beautifully blurred bokeh," we used an ultra-precise aberration measuring instrument, created using high-precision measurement technology cultivated through the development of cutting-edge microscopes. During the basic research phase, we used this measuring instrument to quantitatively verify the "lens characteristics" of historic masterpieces. During the development phase, based on the verification from the basic research phase, we used this measuring instrument to measure bokeh at the aberration level and optimally control the spherical aberration curve, achieving both beautifully blurred bokeh at an open F1.2 aperture and high-level resolution. The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 17mm f/1.2 PRO is designed to focus light rays passing through the outer edges of the lens in front of you, gradually tilting the spherical aberration curve toward the lens as you move toward the outer edges. By intentionally preserving spherical aberration optimally, it achieves beautifully blurred bokeh. It features six ED lens elements, the most of any ZUIKO lens, including a newly developed ED-DSA lens that combines the properties of both ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) and DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lenses, lavishly utilizing specialized elements for high resolution. This lens effectively corrects out-of-focus color fringing (axial chromatic aberration) and color fringing at the periphery of the image (magnification chromatic aberration), both of which are issues with large-aperture lenses, achieving both beautifully blurred bokeh and high optical performance that renders points as points even at maximum aperture. High Close-Up Shooting Capability: With a minimum focusing distance of 20cm and a magnification of 0.15x (0.3x in 35mm format), the OM-D E-M1 Mark II offers excellent close-up shooting capabilities. This allows you to get closer to your subject, resulting in significantly blurred backgrounds. Z Coating Nano, a coating technology that delivers clear images, utilizes nano-sized particles with a layer of air at their center to form a coating layer with a refractive index close to that of air, suppressing surface reflections. This significantly reduces ghosting and flare, resulting in sharp, clear images. MSC Mechanism for Fast and Quiet AF: Despite its large aperture of f/1.2, the MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism features a lightweight focusing unit. The core of the MSC mechanism is a screw drive mechanism, with a stepping motor for the drive motor. High AF Accuracy Across the Entire Focusing Area: The OM-D E-M1 Mark II's on-chip phase-detection AF is not limited by light flux, allowing for all-cross focus AF, even with a large aperture f/1.2 lens. High-precision focusing is achieved across the entire focusing area, even at the edges. SLR (Phase-Detection AF): Current SLR cameras are limited to a luminous flux of f/2.8. Since they lack sensors capable of measuring at f/1.2, AF accuracy cannot be guaranteed even with lenses faster than f/2.8. E-M1 Mark II (On-chip Phase-Detection AF): On-chip phase-detection AF has no luminous flux limitations, enabling highly accurate focusing with all-cross lenses even with a large-aperture f/1.2 lens. Eye-Priority AF: Powerful for Portrait Photography. When used in combination with the Eye-Priority AF found on cameras like the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, you can capture portraits with sharply focused eyes. Reliable Dust-, Weather-Resistant, and Freeze-Resistant Performance: Hermetically sealed surfaces ensure reliable dust-, weather-, and freeze-resistant performance. Shoot worry-free, even in bad weather, without worrying about dust or rain. Operability that meets the demands of professionals The camera is designed to offer operability that meets the demands of professionals, with a focus ring that allows for natural focusing and an L-Fn button that is easy to use even when shooting through the viewfinder. This allows for smooth operation while shooting. The focus ring is wider and positioned forward, allowing for natural focusing even when combined with the large grip of the OM-D E-M1 Mark II. The L-Fn button is positioned on a gently curved surface, allowing for smooth access even when shooting through the viewfinder. A larger focal length display improves visibility. A "Manual Focus Clutch" mechanism instantly switches to manual focus by pulling the focus ring toward you. Accessories: Lens hood (LH-66C), lens cap (LC-62F), lens rear cap (LR-2), lens case (LSC-0811), instruction manual, warranty card. Specifications: Focal length: 17mm (equivalent to 34mm in 35mm format). Lens construction: 15 elements in 11 groups (1 Super ED lens, 3 ED lenses, 1 ED-DSA lens, 1 EDA lens, 1 Super HR lens, 1 aspherical lens). Weather-resistant: Dust-proof and weather-resistant. Focusing method: High-speed imager AF (MSC). Angle of view: 65°. Minimum focusing distance: 0.2m. Maximum magnification: 0.15x (equivalent to 0.3x in 35mm format). Closest focusing range: 115.3 x 86.7mm. Aperture blades: 9 (circular aperture). Maximum aperture ratio: F1.2. Minimum aperture ratio: F16. Filter size: 62mm. Maximum diameter x total length: 68.2 x 87 mm Weight: 390 g Manufacturer's warranty period: 1 year
