A compact, lightweight, dustproof and splashproof ultra-wide-angle zoom with the mobility of a large-aperture F2.8 ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that maintains the high performance of the Four Thirds system ultra-wide-angle zoom lens "ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm F4" while being compact, lightweight, and achieving a bright F2.8 aperture. The bright f/2.8 maximum aperture allows for a shutter speed one stop faster than before, and when combined with the powerful image stabilization of OM-D series cameras, it expands the possibilities for handheld shooting. Taking advantage of the short flange focal length unique to mirrorless cameras, the lens's design allows for an incredibly compact and lightweight design despite its large aperture. It weighs approximately 60% less than lenses with the same angle of view and maximum aperture on full-frame cameras, providing exceptional portability. Its dust- and weather-resistant construction with 11 airtight seals provides strong protection against dust and water, making it suitable for harsh shooting environments when paired with a dust- and weather-resistant body such as the OM-D E-M1 or E-M5 Mark II.
Incredible optical performance delivers sharp images from center to periphery, even at maximum aperture. The optical performance delivers outstanding image quality even at maximum aperture, enabling clear, edge-to-edge resolution in scenes that require it, such as nightscapes and starry skies. To maintain a compact and lightweight design while enhancing optical performance at the large f/2.8 aperture, the lens incorporates a generous selection of specialized lenses, including DSA, Super ED, ED, EDA, and HR lenses. This minimizes chromatic aberration, ensuring a flat image plane and point-image rendering. It also boasts excellent optical performance with no light falloff from the center to the edges. The lens's ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating minimizes ghosting and flare, making it particularly resistant to backlighting. Optimized coatings, especially on the front lens element, significantly reduce (circular) ghosting. This lens's outstanding optical performance is further enhanced when using the OM-D E-M5 Mark II's 40M High Res Shot function. The PRO series boasts a minimum focusing distance of 20cm (approximately 7.5cm from the lens tip), with a maximum magnification of 0.12x (0.24x in 35mm format). It allows you to take close-up shots that make the most of the background, a feat only possible with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
It is equipped with a "Manual Focus (MF) Clutch Mechanism" that allows you to instantly switch from AF to MF shooting and achieve precise focus.
The lens is equipped with an "L-Fn" function button. It can be assigned to functions according to the camera body's custom settings, including "AF Stop."
It is equipped with a fixed lens hood. The front lens element moves back at the telephoto end and forward at the wide-angle end, effectively cutting out unnecessary light that enters the lens. Plastic is deliberately used as the material to ensure impact resistance and prevent vignetting due to deformation of the hood.
