Anticipating future camera body evolution, this new-generation "★ (Star)" lens delivers significant improvements in resolution, correcting various aberrations to the utmost extent to achieve sharp, clear images from center to periphery. Enjoy exceptionally high resolution even at widest aperture, beautiful gently fading bokeh, and improved image quality at close distances, allowing you to enjoy three-dimensional images. With an extremely bright maximum aperture of f/1.4, this lens delivers a bright viewfinder image that inspires you to take photographs, whether you're shooting portraits, handheld indoor shots, or landscapes, taking advantage of the background blur.
The lens utilizes the latest optical technology, incorporating three high-performance Super ED glass elements for extremely effective reduction of chromatic aberration. Additionally, one molded-glass aspherical lens element effectively corrects spherical aberration, coma, and field curvature, delivering clear, high-contrast images from center to periphery, even at maximum aperture. Distortion is reduced to nearly zero at a subject distance of approximately 4m, ensuring crisp, distortion-free images from infinity to the minimum focusing distance. Furthermore, the lens's high-performance multi-coating HD coating reduces average reflectance in the visible light range by approximately 50% compared to conventional coatings, effectively suppressing ghosting and flare even in challenging lighting conditions, such as backlighting. Equipped with a newly developed SDM featuring a dedicated ring-type ultrasonic motor. To ensure high image quality across the entire focal length range, from close-up to infinity, the lens incorporates a newly developed SDM featuring a dedicated ring-type ultrasonic motor. This lens is larger than the previous model, providing approximately 1.3 times the torque of the HD PENTAX-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW, ensuring fast, smooth autofocusing. Dust- and Weather-Resistant Design: The lens boasts an AW (All Weather) dust- and weather-resistant construction, with eight sealing points to prevent water droplets and dust from entering the lens interior.
