Despite its large aperture, it delivers outstanding imaging performance and beautiful bokeh across the entire zoom range. This product is developed as an "S PRO lens" that has been "Certified by LEICA" and has met both Panasonic's strict standards and Leica Camera's strict quality standards. Despite being a large-aperture lens, it delivers outstanding imaging performance from the center to the edges across the entire zoom range, from wide-angle to standard. The 16-group, 18-element optical design employs three aspherical lenses to suppress spherical aberration, while four optimally positioned ED lenses correct chromatic aberration. High-refractive-index UHR lenses also ensure superior imaging performance, even at the edges of the image. Furthermore, the lens employs a "double focus system" that splits the focus group, typically comprised of a single group, into two groups that operate independently, delivering high-resolution, high-contrast imaging performance regardless of subject distance, from close up to infinity. Furthermore, the lens pursues beautiful, almost melting bokeh, a key feature of photographic expression, and three-dimensional texture rendering that smoothly blurs as the subject moves out of focus. This large-aperture standard zoom lens covers a wide range of focal lengths, delivering strikingly vivid depictions of the subject's moment, from landscapes requiring high resolution to portraits that demand striking bokeh and three-dimensionality. High-speed, high-precision AF with double focus and 480fps AF control, and intuitive AF/MF operation with a focus clutch mechanism. While enhancing the benefits of 480-fps AF control and high-precision focusing with a contrast detection method, this lens also achieves faster speeds. It instantly detects contrast peaks and calculates the direction of movement and focus position. Furthermore, faster communication control between the body and lens achieves both precision and speed. By splitting the focus group, which is typically composed of a single group, into two groups and moving them independently, high-quality imaging performance is achieved regardless of subject distance. Separating the focus group into two allows each group to be lighter, resulting in faster and more accurate autofocus. The focus clutch mechanism allows for quick switching between AF and MF with a simple slide of the focus ring, and the distance scale allows for precise focusing during manual focus shooting. The dust- and splash-proof design (※1) makes it suitable for a wide range of outdoor scenes, enabling mobile shooting. With a low-temperature resistance down to -10°C, it can be used in cold climates like snowy mountains and slopes, covering a wide range of professional shooting scenarios. *1 When mounted on a Panasonic dustproof and splashproof full-frame mirrorless camera body.
Excellent video recording performance with support for 4K video. Optimized optical design and internal barrel structure suppress breathing, which causes changes in the angle of view as the focus position shifts during video recording. Furthermore, aperture micro-step control supports stable exposure control even when zooming, panning, or in scenes with significant changes in brightness. The focus clutch mechanism's manual focus position allows for intuitive focusing, even during video recording. Switching to absolute position-dependent focus ring rotation enables superior manual focus operation, directly reflecting the photographer's intentions.
