World's first* full-frame zoom lens with a constant F1.8 aperture. We have successfully developed the world's first full-frame zoom lens with a constant F1.8 aperture. Furthermore, to suit any shooting scene, it also features an inner zoom mechanism, a minimum focusing distance of 30cm across the entire zoom range, and a filter size of φ82mm, making it easy to handle and set up when shooting handheld. By combining our accumulated experience, cutting-edge design technology, and the advanced production techniques of our Aizu factory, SIGMA's only production base, we have created the world's first full-frame zoom lens with a constant F1.8 aperture. Until now, the privilege of prime lenses for full-frame cameras allowed the large F1.8 aperture to capture abundant light and enjoy beautiful, wide-angle bokeh.
Inner zoom mechanism: The zoom mechanism uses an inner zoom. Since the overall length does not change with zoom operation, it is easy to handle for handheld shooting, highly stable when mounted on a tripod or gimbal, and is also dust and water resistant.
Consistent and excellent close-up shooting capabilities throughout the entire zoom range. The minimum focusing distance remains constant at 30cm throughout the zoom range, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the telephoto end provides excellent close-up shooting capabilities. This lens is ideal for close-up shots or tight spaces where you can't get farther away from the subject, without having to worry about changes in the minimum focusing distance caused by zooming.

Designed to minimize flare and ghosting, including the use of nanoporous coating, it delivers clear images even in backlit environments. Furthermore, focus breathing is suppressed, allowing you to fully utilize the unique expressive power of an F1.8 zoom lens, even in video recording.
High-quality expression delivered by high-quality optical performance. Five SLD glass elements and three aspherical lens elements are strategically positioned to effectively correct various aberrations. Axial chromatic aberration, which is particularly noticeable with large-diameter lenses, is thoroughly suppressed. From the sharp focal plane to the large, beautifully blurred areas, it delivers clear, minimally colored images.
Designed to suppress focus breathing: The lens is designed to suppress focus breathing. This minimizes change in the angle of view caused by focus shifts across the entire zoom range, enabling natural focusing during video shooting.
Designed to minimize flare and ghosting: Flare and ghosting, which degrade image quality, are addressed under all incident light conditions using cutting-edge simulation technology. Furthermore, nanoporous coating and super multi-layer coating minimize flare and ghosting. High backlight resistance ensures clear, crisp images in any lighting conditions.
High-speed AF and various features to support comfortable shooting: In addition to high-precision, high-speed AF using the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator), the lens is equipped with a dust-proof, splash-proof construction, a water-repellent and oil-resistant coating for weather resistance, an aperture ring, an AFL button, and other comprehensive features. The easy-to-operate focus ring allows for delicate and comfortable manual focusing.
Comfortable Manual Focusing: The optimal torque setting and high-resolution by-wire drive focus ring enable delicate focusing. Taking advantage of the shallow depth of field of F1.8, you can enjoy video capture using focus adjustments or carefully fine-tuned manual focusing. For L-mount lenses, the linear focus rotation angle can be set from 90° to 720°*. *Only compatible cameras are available.
Equipped with an Aperture Ring: The aperture ring is equipped with an aperture ring click switch and aperture ring lock switch, allowing you to adjust the aperture to suit your shooting needs.
Equipped with Two AFL Buttons: The AFL buttons* are equipped in two locations and can be assigned to any function. Located on the side and top, the buttons can be easily operated whether the lens is held horizontally or vertically. *Function assignment is only available with compatible cameras. The assignable functions may vary depending on the camera.
Dustproof and splash-proof construction* with water-repellent and dirt-resistant coating In addition to the dustproof and splash-proof body, the front of the lens is coated with a water-repellent and dirt-resistant coating, allowing you to shoot with confidence even in harsh outdoor environments. *The construction is dustproof and splash-proof, but it is not waterproof. When using the lens near water, be careful not to get it wet with large amounts of water. If water gets inside the lens, it may cause serious damage that may be beyond repair.
