The last JNR-type express train in eastern Japan has been renovated!
High Grade (HG) specifications
The car has a cover on the typhoon and a snowplow on the bogie.
The salon reproduces the unique appearance of the 200 series with a toilet window.
Car number is selectable and transfer sheet included
Licensed for commercialization by JR East
The 185 series is a direct current express train that was introduced in 1981.
The 185 series at Tamachi Depot was mainly used for the "Odoriko" express trains, and in addition to the 0 series, which replaced the 153 series, the 200 series, which were transferred in as surplus and were designed to be resistant to snow and cold, were deployed.
The 185 series for the "Odoriko" service has been repainted since around 1999, and the skirts were changed to a reinforced type in 2010. However, from 2011, the paint scheme was changed back to the original, with a cream No. 10 and green No. 14 diagonal stripe.
With the timetable change in March 2021, the express "Odoriko" service will be discontinued, and as of 2024, two 6-car trains are in use for group and special trains.
