It is a plastic model of "1/144 SWEET DECAL No.33 Zero Fighter Type 21 3rd Air Corps Rabaul Detachment Yellow 2nd Company"
from SWEET. The decal set contains one Zero fighter kit and a color painting diagram. The 3 Air Fighter Squadron, Rabaul Detachment advanced to Rabaul on September 17, 1942. The dispatched Zero fighter type 21 is 21 aircraft, including 18 aircraft for two companies and 3 spare aircraft. The 1st Company was led by Captain Takahide Aioi, and the 2nd Company was led by Squad Leader (Company Commander) Lieutenant Sadao Yamaguchi. It is presumed that the 1st Company of the 3rd Air Rabaul Detachment had a “red” identification band and the 2nd Company a “yellow” identification band on the rear of the fuselage. The 3-air X-169, photographed in Rabaul, has one yellow band drawn on each of the fuselage and vertical stabilizer. In addition, although the aircraft number has been deleted due to censorship, there is a photo of the aircraft with two long yellow stripes on the fuselage and vertical stabilizer. This aircraft is believed to be the aircraft of Second Company Squad Leader Lieutenant Sadao Yamaguchi. In the decal set, Lieutenant Yamaguchi's machine number is estimated to be X-161, and X-169 and 2 decals are prepared. On October 3, 2017, Sora Kanoya, under the command of Captain Toshitaka Ito, nine Zero Fighter Type 21s of the 3rd Air Fighter Squadron, led by Squad Leader Lieutenant Yamaguchi, sortie to control the skies over Guadalcanal Island. Lieutenant Yamaguchi's platoon shot down three enemy aircraft, but Yamaguchi was hit by the aircraft and made an emergency landing on the north coast of Guadalcanal. After that, he was rescued by allied ground forces and returned to Rabaul safely. *This product is a kit that requires assembly and painting. * Separate adhesives and tools are required for assembly and painting.
