This is the Hasegawa 1/48 Typhoon Mk.IB with a teardrop canopy. HJT60 Typhoon Mk.IB with a teardrop canopy.
?Product Specifications?
This is the Hasegawa 1/48 Typhoon Mk.IB with a teardrop canopy. During the development of the Typhoon, development progressed on the Type N equipped with a Napier Sabre engine and the Type R equipped with a Rolls-Royce Vulture engine. In October 1939, the Type R, named Tornado, made its first flight first. The Type N, named Typhoon, was delayed in the development of the engine itself and made its first flight in February 1940. It was judged to have very good high-speed flight characteristics but a strong tendency to drift to the right during takeoff. Subsequently, the Tornado's production was halted due to engine problems, making practical use difficult. Meanwhile, the Typhoon underwent rapid development, with the IA model equipped with the new Sabre IIA engine being produced, followed immediately by the IB model with cannons. However, it was deployed to combat without sufficient practical testing results, leading to various problems and a fatal accident in which the entire tail section was destroyed. Nevertheless, at the time, the Typhoon was the only aircraft faster than the Fw 190 at low altitudes, and its four 20mm cannons could obliterate enemy aircraft with a single shot. The problematic tail section was eventually resolved, and from November 1942, it achieved significant success in attacks on German-occupied continental Europe, destroying airfields, ships, and railways. [Actual Aircraft Data] Crew: 1 Wingspan: 12.59m Length: 9.93m Height: 4.49m Engine: Napier Sabre IIA liquid-cooled 24-cylinder H-type (output 2180hp) Maximum speed: 652km/h Fixed armament: 4 x 20mm Hispano cannons First flight: 1940.2.24
