I'm not completely convinced this is a genuine canon lens due to the fact that it didn't come in a canon box, but the lens seems to work good and appears like a canon lens, so I'm torn about rating to give.

I'm saving up for a 24-70 --- but this worked perfectly as a travel lens! I took my 50mm and my 70-200 to Asia and used THIS lens 95% of the time! Next time I'm packing only this lens!

I got this lens yesterday, to go with the EOS 6D that arrived the day before. I'm infatuated with image quality, which is why I am exploring full frame cameras. So, I'm really happy with the sharpness, and richness I got on my first outing. I shot some of the landscape around my building, and I am impressed with the results. (No they won't hang in a museum, but they are sharp.)These pictures are hand held. And I credit the IS a lot, as I have a tremor in my old age, and I get a good percentage of keepers, I figure because of that. I also use a mono-pod or tripod, and my 6D is already fitted with a QR plate, but hasn't been on the tripod yet.This lens feels great. There's no creep. The controls are well placed. It is not light, but noticeably lighter (and significantly less expensive) than the L series lenses it emulates, and offers no discernible difference in image quality. This lens will also work on a APS-C body, like my 760D (T6-s), but I wouldn't get this lens, unless you plan to upgrade to FF. For the same price, you could have an EF-S 18-135 mm, (an awesome range, like 29-216 mm eqiv.) but it only works on a cropped body. It's a better choice though, for a 7D, 80D, etc. The lenses are very similar in size and build. There is also an EF-S 15-85 mm lens (that equates to 24-136 mm,) but that's a couple of hundred more. But that's if you aren't considering FF.People going for full frame are probably, at least enthusiasts, if not pros, so they have an idea of the quality they're after. I think this 24-105 lens will satisfy most 6D, or 5D users. I imagine 1D-X users will want something more well armored, -- and a lot heavier.
