A new model has been released that pays tribute to the "Laurel" design, the origin of Seiko's watchmaking, by adopting a lavish lacquer dial and using the Cal.
6R5H movement.
The index features Arabic numerals, a nostalgic and iconic design that has been loved for many years.
The Arabic numerals, illuminated by the light, further accentuate the deep black color unique to lacquerware.
The Arabic numerals retain the brushstroke-like variations in line thickness from the original model, the rounded top of the "2", and the accompanying text on the "4", giving the numbers a unique expression.
The bases of the second and hour/minute hands are polished to a mirror finish, highlighting their presence.
On the other hand, the body of the hour and minute hands was designed to have a texture that complements the Arabic numerals.
By combining a mirror-finish second hand with hour and minute hands that have a subdued sheen, the design makes the hands beautifully stand out against the deep black of the lacquer.
The case is a new design for craftsmanship, incorporating the design codes of the Classic series.
By making the edges of the case thin, the beauty of the dial is highlighted.
The watch features dual-curved sapphire glass, and the sides of the case are beveled to create a slim appearance when viewed from the side.
We aimed for a classic look by tapering the grooved finish at the top of the legs.
With a case diameter of 39.6mm, it has a moderate presence, yet its soft curves ensure comfort and a perfect fit on the wrist.
By combining it with a gold case, the glossy black dial stands out, creating a glamorous impression.
The strap is made of oil-tanned cowhide leather (LWG certified leather) that develops a richer character with use.
It features a supple texture and a lustrous sheen that seems to emanate from within, and is also highly durable.
Gold stitching creates a sense of unity between the index and the case.
