Kato 3050 EF58 Omeshi Scheduled for release around September to October 2026 [Product Introduction] Kato's N gauge model train, EF58 60 Imperial Train Reserve Locomotive. ■The No. 60 locomotive, which appeared as a dedicated locomotive for the Imperial Train, is modeled in its form as a reserve locomotive during its operation in 1979 (Showa 54) for the Aichi Tree Planting Festival (small window H-rubber, Yoroid-type air filter, etc.) in its later years. ■A dedicated body is used to reproduce the decorations unique to the No. 60 locomotive. ■The deep body color is realistically reproduced. ■One-piece body representation (stainless steel decorative strip, number plate, manufacturer's plate). ■The headband-like trim of the headlights is reproduced. ■The Japanese flag used when pulling the No. 1 Imperial Train formation is detachable. You can attach it and enjoy operating the Imperial Train. ■Arnold coupler (silver) is standard equipment. Includes a knuckle coupler (silver) for replacement. ■Detailed driver's cab (control panel, seats, see-through interior). ■Uses PS14 pantograph (silver molded parts). ■Accurately reproduces body markings. ■Uses a GM-5 motor power unit with flywheel. ■Headlights light up (warm white LED used). [Set contents] [EF58 60 Imperial Train Reserve Locomotive (M)] [Introduction to the actual locomotive] EF58 60 was a locomotive that was built in July 1953, along with its sister locomotive 61, and was designated from the ordering stage to be exclusively for the Imperial Train. The body was painted in a deep crimson color called "tame-iro," and it boasted a beautiful appearance with stainless steel decorative strips and an unpainted, polished undercarriage. The roles of pulling the Imperial Train were divided, with 61 as the main locomotive and 60 as the reserve. Later, 60's designation as an Imperial train locomotive was removed, and it became a general-purpose locomotive and underwent various modifications, but it continued to maintain its unique paint scheme and decorations and continued to be active as the ace of the Hamamatsu locomotive depot. The last hurrah for locomotive No. 60 was when it served as a reserve locomotive for the first time in a long time on the Imperial train that ran during the Aichi Tree Planting Festival in 1979, and it retired four years later in 1983, much to the regret of many fans.
