■First-served bonus: Postcard F Fujiwara Sakura's sixth new album, "uku," is now out, roughly two years after her previous album, "wood mood" (2024). Her previous album, "wood mood," was created with a story of getting lost in a mysterious forest in mind, and the sound of the album reflected the emotional and physical fluctuations Fujiwara was experiencing at the time. Due to ear and throat problems, she even felt afraid of the music she loved, forcing her to distance herself from it for a time. But by embracing her own anxieties and confusion, she was able to let go of unnecessary thoughts, relax, and rediscover the joy of music. This sense of liberation is embodied in her latest album, "uku." Her unassuming presence is expressed in the music itself. It's as if she's reached a beach with a clear view after a long forest escape. Drummer Shun Ishiwaka, who also produced the previous album, handled the sound production. While retaining the feel of "wood mood," the album feels more like a lighter, more airy, floating free and elevated album than a powerful step forward. Though released in winter, it also embodies a passion that warms the hearts of listeners. A lightness gained through letting go. "uku" embodies her, as she dances freely to the music, dressed lightly in her own skin.
