[Impressive Iraqi T-55 with Add-on Armor] The T-55 Enigma was an independently modified T-55 deployed by the Iraqi Army in the 1991 Gulf War. At the time, the Iraqi Army boasted a significant military force, primarily comprised of Soviet-made T-72s and T-54s/55s. The T-55 Enigma, among other tanks, is notable for its enhanced defensive capabilities, thanks to the addition of add-on armor to the turret and hull. During the Gulf War, it was deployed to regular Army units and used as a command vehicle. Incidentally, the name "Enigma," meaning "enigma" in English, was coined by the multinational forces that captured the tank.
