・High-pass filter with 12 selectable frequency bands. This is the TONEFLAKE CUSTOM model of TK AUDIO's flagship mastering EQ, the TK-LIZER. While the main specifications remain the same, the biggest difference is the tone. The TK-LIZER is a mastering EQ with an MS matrix, but it has long been said that MS decoding of 2-channel stereo sources tends to result in a thin sound. This isn't a fault of the MS, but rather a problem with the design of the buffers before and after it. However, because the sound image is created by controlling phase, the difference is easily noticeable. With the TONEFLAKE CUSTOM, we focused on correcting the sound image during MS equalization, which is considered a weak point. The output stage features the original T1166 transformer, which was a huge success in the Chameleon Labs 7602, but with a different ratio. The time constant circuit has been omitted, resulting in a nearly clear frequency range. Wiring materials are a crucial factor in determining sound, and we've generously used the same internal wiring materials found in vintage NEVE consoles. We also used eutectic solder at eutectic temperatures. This ensures a thick, punchy sound without any muddiness in the low range, and a clear sound quality that highlights excellent phase in the high range. Because the custom circuit is located in the final output stage, the TONEFLAKE CUSTOM's tone can be enjoyed regardless of whether the EQ is on or off. In other words, you can even use this custom tone alone without the EQ. The difference is obvious even in the standard stereo EQ mode, but in MS mode you'll be amazed at the difference in spaciousness, low-frequency focus, and punch. And because there are no unnecessary circuits, this customization doesn't result in a deterioration in the S/N ratio of even 0.1dB.
