- Level-dependent Vari-Mu ratio setting
- Two application-specific adjustable ratio ranges
- Five RMS detection speed settings
- Blend control The T-Komp 500 is an API 500-format mono compressor with a unique design that brings the ratio curve of a variable-mu compressor to modern recording. The ratio is level-dependent, so the compression ratio increases as the input level increases. This is a compressor design that offers many possibilities. For greater flexibility, the T-Komp is equipped with two ratio ranges: one up to 20:1, ideal for smashing instruments, especially drum tracks, and a narrower range down to 2:1, ideal for bus compression. The detection speed of T-Komp's RMS detector can be set using five controls called Timing controls. The fourth setting is the slowest, which is the same as the 160-VU compressor. From there, you can make progressively faster settings up to the first setting. The fifth setting is a program-dependent adaptive mode. In this mode, the RMS detector works faster for fast signals and slower for slow signals to prevent unwanted low frequencies.
