This rugged, compact design delivers the uncompromising sound and dynamics of Rupert Neve Designs DIs to even more musicians and engineers. Compact Design, Great Tone: The RNDI-M is compatible with a variety of instrument-level sources, including electric guitars, basses, synthesizers, keyboards, piezo pickups, and more. Its discrete, Class A circuit topology, built around Rupert Neve's custom transformers, delivers exceptional sonic performance and a stunningly natural sound from below 5 Hz to well beyond 90 kHz. It handles input levels up to +20.5 dBu, and its low-impedance, transformer-coupled output stage minimizes signal loss between devices, even over long cable runs. Development Background: Developed during experimentation with new transformer designs, the RNDI circuit was tuned through a series of listening tests with the most popular high-end DIs. During testing, the RNDI consistently revealed new dimensions to the sound, almost breathing life into the instruments. Low frequencies were richer, deeper, and fuller, and high frequencies were exceptionally clear without harshness. "RNDI stood out—it was something that musicians could see and want to use," the team said. Since its introduction in 2015, over 35,000 RNDI channels have been sold, and it's used daily by artists such as Billie Eilish, The Rolling Stones, Olivia Rodrigo, Paul Simon, Billy Strings, AC/DC, Thundercat, Tycho, Halsey, Jack White, and Stevie Wonder, among many others. Signature Sound: The RNDI-M's unique precision, tone, and response are achieved through the perfect harmony of a custom Rupert Neve Designs transformer and a Class-A discrete FET input stage. Custom Transformer: The RNDI-M's custom output transformer adds musical harmonic overtones and dimension to your sound while providing superior passive isolation. The low-impedance, transformer-balanced output ensures consistent performance, even over long cable runs, for peace of mind on stage and in the studio. Class-A Discrete FET Amplifier: The RNDI-M's Class-A discrete FET input stage features a high-impedance 2.2 MΩ input powered by external +48V phantom power, providing consistent performance with a wide range of instruments and other sources. The Class-A design eliminates crossover distortion, while the majority of harmonic content is a pleasing combination of second- and third-order components. These subtle yet closely related harmonics add richness to your sound. Wide Bandwidth and Ample Headroom: The RNDI-M delivers flat response within 1/4 dB from 28 Hz to 60 kHz and +/- 1 dB up to 90 kHz, including bass response down to 5 Hz. But measurements are only part of the equation—this wide bandwidth, combined with the harmonic response of the output transformer, delivers a low end that feels like an octave deeper, without sacrificing midrange richness or top-end sparkle. For Guitar, Bass, Synths, Keyboards, and More: The RNDI-M's uniquely high input headroom of +20.5 dBu accommodates a wide range of sources, from guitar and bass to synths, keyboards, drum machines, and even pre-recorded material. Inject the signature Rupert Neve Designs tone into your source with the RNDI-M! Specifications Maximum Input Level +20.5 dBu (8.2 Volts RMS) Maximum Output Level +11.5 dBu Typical Frequency Response ±0.25 dB @ 28 Hz to 60 kHz ±1 dB @ 14 Hz to 90 kHz -3 dBu @ 5 Hz or less Noise (measured at Main Out, Unweighted, 22 Hz to 22 kHz, 150-10 kΩ) 110 dBu or less Input Impedance 2.2 MΩ Output Impedance 40 Ω or less THD+N (Total Harmonic Distortion) 0.25% or less @ 1 kHz, +20 dBu input (2nd and 3rd harmonics) 0.015% or less @ 1 kHz, -20 dBu input (2nd and 3rd harmonics) 0.75% or less @ 20 Hz, -20 dBu input (2nd and 3rd harmonics) Power Supply 4.5 mA @ +48 V DC Phantom power.
