・Transformer Signal Path with Silk/Texture: A custom transformer placed before the converter adds weight and punch. Rupert Neve Designs' proprietary Silk/Texture technology allows for harmonics and saturation control in the signal path.
・Class A Transformerless Signal Path: Ensures the input signal is delivered to the converter with exceptional clarity and transparency.
・An Analog Limiter with an Improved "Compound Active Release" Topology: Pushes levels more naturally than plug-ins, reliably avoiding clipping during recording and broadcast.
・24-bit/192kHz Reference Conversion: Utilizing the latest chips for high-precision clocking, the DAC delivers unparalleled analog signal capture quality.
・Multiple Digital Format Support: Simultaneously connect to any AES, S/PDIF, or TOSLINK-equipped device.
・High-Precision Clock: Operates as a master clock or synchronizes to an external master clock with maximum accuracy, with minimal jitter and phase noise. With over 70 years of analog circuit design experience, Rupert Neve had never considered a converter worthy of his name until 2018, when he released the RMP-D8 microphone preamplifier, which also supports Dante connectivity. While the RMP-D8 was primarily designed as a microphone preamp, it quickly became the converter of choice for top recording, mastering, and touring engineers. This led to the development of the MBC, which set a new standard for PCM conversion quality. The MBC features two analog signal paths: a Class A transformerless signal path for the highest level of transparency, and a signal path featuring a custom-designed interstage audio transformer including a variable Silk circuit for rich, vibrant tones. These paths feed the MBC's converter section. Combined with the highly musical limiter, the breathtakingly beautiful, three-dimensional approach makes the MBC the ultimate choice for capturing analog signals. Furthermore, in developing the MBC, we sought to achieve a musical quality that surpasses the quality of existing plug-in limiters. Our primary goal was to design a transparent, safe limiter that would be useful in a wide range of applications. To achieve both, we refined the "Compound Active Release" topology, achieving both transparency and the ability to push track and mix levels without compromising the integrity of the source. Further evolving the RMP-D8 design, MBC's 24-bit/192 kHz converters utilize a highly accurate internal clock to minimize jitter and phase noise. The result is exceptionally accurate capture of the source's unique character. Digital outputs include AES, S/PDIF, and TOSLINK connectors, allowing simultaneous output to multiple devices, such as audio interfaces and digital consoles. To seamlessly integrate into multi-channel converter environments, four reference levels ranging from -14 dBFS to -20 dBFS allow precise matching with other converters. Reference level calibration is performed with exceptional precision using high-quality resistors and relay-controlled stepped attenuation. A pair of 22-segment LED meters, providing accurate monitoring of input levels to the converter stage, offers the highest resolution of any Rupert Neve Designs product, and a separate 8-segment gain reduction meter is also provided.
