While we at Lindell Audio love vacuum tubes as much as you do, the solid-state design offered countless advantages that vacuum tubes simply couldn't offer. It delivers a smooth, creamy, and punchy character with faster response and less noise than tube-based EQs. It also offers improved matching performance when used in stereo and eliminates the need for tube maintenance. The LINTEC uses the same proven OPA 1731 op amp found in Lindell Audio's VIN, Retro, and 500 series compressors. The transformer is custom-designed and purpose-built for the LINTEC. The Pultec low-end trick: The LINTEC delivers the infamous low-end trick used on thousands of recordings to thicken basslines and kick drums. Simply select the desired LF frequency (start at 100 Hz) and simultaneously increase both the boost (LF Boost) and cut (LF Attenuate) controls to your liking. In fact, the original Pultec EQ documentation boldly stated, "Do not use boost and cut simultaneously at low frequencies." This unintended use was only discovered by curious engineers. This simultaneous boost and cut boosts the low end below the selected frequency and cuts the frequencies slightly above the selected frequency, giving you a satisfying body without muddying the mids.
