Description (5,165 characters)
This 1U sized effects unit is made for professional studio use. At its heart is the unique "High Voltage Distortion" concept, a completely new analogue processing technique developed by Gamechanger Audio in 2018. Using a high voltage step-up transformer, PLASMA RACK converts the signal into a rapid discharge within a xenon gas-filled tube. After delivering a powerful electrical discharge of up to 5,500 volts, the signal is picked up by a custom-designed electromagnetic receiver and converted back into an audio signal. This process generates a large amount of extremely heavy distortion, resulting in a wide range of harmonics and saturation. These artificial harmonics, a by-product of the high-voltage discharge, are impossible to achieve through conventional signal amplification. Plasma distortion is unlike anything you've heard before. The way PLASMA RACK interacts with various instruments and sound sources is something that no other analog machine, plug-in, or digital sound modeling can replicate. A new form of analog distortion. At its heart is a unique "High-Voltage Distortion" concept, an entirely new form of analog processing developed by Gamechanger Audio in 2018. Using a high-voltage step-up transformer, PLASMA RACK converts the signal into a rapid electrical discharge within a xenon gas-filled tube. After a powerful discharge of up to 5,500 volts, the electricity is picked up by a custom-designed electromagnetic receiver and converted back into an audio signal. This process produces a large amount of extremely heavy distortion, with a wide range of harmonics and saturation. These artificial harmonics, a by-product of the high-voltage discharge, cannot be achieved through conventional signal amplification. Plasma distortion is unlike anything you've heard before. The interaction between PLASMA RACK and various instruments and sound sources cannot be replicated by any other analog machine, plug-in, or digital sound modeling. Details 3-Band EQ Adds extra control over key plasma frequencies. (10Hz, -20 to 20 dB LP Shelving Filter; 600Hz, -6 to 6 dB; 20kHz, -10 to 10 dB HP Shelving filter) Input Gain Control Fine-tune for connecting any type of instrument or gear (e.g., to adjust the volume differences between different pickups) (Preamp gain range: -26dB to +12dB) Sustain Mode Includes a built-in adaptive compressor that extends the output of the plasma tube at low voltage settings. This creates a completely unpredictable and unusual sputtering sound. Oversaturate Mode Analog Octave Up/Harmonic Addition obtained by overpowering the plasma tube. This adds intense "Octavia-style" upper harmonics to the attack and makes the overall sound more intense. Clean Gate Mode: Use this mode when you want to get the plasma tube gating effect on a clean signal without adding distortion. Ideal for all percussive instruments, it can also be used to shred heavy reverbs or create bit-crushing effects using the discharge gap. Plasma Tremolo/Ring Modulation: This highly unusual tremolo circuit maximizes the sputter and sudden bursts of plasma tubes. It can be used for slow tremolo or, at maximum settings, for screaming ring modulation. It also features a dynamic tremolo mode, which applies the tremolo (or ring modulation) effect only on the attack or decay. Details 2: Built-in Distortion Channel: Plasma distortion pairs exceptionally well with classic op-amp distortion. PLASMA RACK's built-in distortion circuit allows for instant, massive sound creation. The CLEAN GATE button adds a tube gating effect to the distortion channel. Three FX loops with switchable level controls. The FX loops allow external effects to be inserted at various points in the PLASMA RACK signal chain. FX LOOP 1: Inserts external FX on the dry signal only. FX LOOP 2: Inserts external FX on the wet signal only, insert point before the plasma tube. FX LOOP 3: Inserts external FX on the wet signal only, insert point after the plasma tube. Connections: Input: 1 unbalanced 1/4" TS jack input (Instrument), 1 balanced combo XLR/jack input (with pad). Output: 1 balanced XLR, 1 unbalanced 1/4" TS jack. MIDI: Input, Thru, Output. Full MIDI control + 8 preset slots. All parameters and values support MIDI CC (Control Change) and Program Change. Eight preset slots allow you to save button states and knob values. What's more, you can control multiple PLASMA RACKs via MIDI. Syncable via CC. Assignable expression. Expression for every knob, including input volume, blend, voltage, tremolo depth and rate. Controllable with pedals. Save utility settings. By setting the default state of every button, knob, function, etc., PLASMA RACK is ready to use anytime, anywhere. Specifications: 3-band EQ, input gain control, sustain, oversaturated mode, clean mode, gate mode, plasma mode, tremolo/ring modulation, built-in distortion channel, 3 FX loops with switchable level control, full connection jacks, MIDI control + 8 preset slots. Assignable expression. Input utility settings can be saved. ■Management code: 4533940109503
