・Two unique custom coloring circuits designed by Chris Moose Developed as a complete redesign of the 2-BUS LT, the 2-BUS-XT delivers ultra-high-resolution depth of field for every track, from a thumping kick drum to a center-melting vocal, across a spacious soundstage, making the final mix organic and effortless. Better and faster with fewer plugins, the 2-BUS-XT lets you relive the joy of mixing. The 2-BUS-XT delivers legendary headroom and rich analog-inspired sound thanks to the same 6-layer summing circuit found in the 2-BUS+ and two unique custom coloring circuits designed by Chris Moose. After dozens of listening tests, the transformers were specially selected to maintain top-end clarity while providing warmth and refined second-order harmonics in the low-mid range. The Coherence control in the MIX BUSS section gradually increases harmonic detail as the signal level is reduced, blending the result back into the source like parallel compression for added excitement. The MONO switches on front panels 1&2 and 9&10 convert the input signal to true mono, allowing you to perfectly center specific instruments in the mix. For example, if you have a kick drum on 1, a snare on 2, a bass on 9, and a vocal on 10, simply activate the Mono button to send these elements straight to the center of the mix. Analog processing eliminates latency, which can cause phasing and other issues during mixing. Unlike passive summing boxes that require significant amounts of make-up gain or line mixers with only volume and pan controls, the 2-BUS-XT's active summing mixer delivers the best results you can imagine. Whether you're looking for a "huge soundstage," "holographic sound," or "three-dimensionality," the 2-BUS-XT's panning is wide and precise, the reverb is spacious and deep, the bass is powerful, and the highs and mids are clear and captivating. And within that spacious sound, you'll find an incredibly focused and powerful center image. In other words, the 2-BUS-XT's exceptional summing circuitry provides all the headroom and expansive soundstage you need, allowing your mix to truly shine. Mixing analog allows multiple converter channels to share the workload, reducing strain and improving work efficiency. Q1: Is it a true summing amplifier or just a line mixer? A: A true summing box designed as the backend of a DAW mixer has fixed gain and fixed pan. This is because the fader and pan controls are located in the DAW software mixer. You don't want to duplicate these functions in hardware, which would lose recall functionality and run the audio through unnecessary electronics that degrade the sound. If it has pan pots or level controls, it's a line mixer, not a summing mixer, regardless of what the front panel says. Line mixers are great when you need to submix keyboards or multiple mic preamps to stereo, but they're not the best option when mixing tracks from a DAW. Q2. Do I need a coloring circuit to add color to my mix? A. You need options so you can choose as needed. Many manufacturers incorporate components like transformers and vacuum tubes into their designs, creating their own color signatures that color the sound. While these components can pleasantly shape the sound, they can also trap you in whatever you do. With the 2-BUS+, we chose to make tone and coloring options optional by using three original analog color circuits that can be selected and adjusted as needed. If the coloring circuit negatively impacts your mix depending on the song, you can disable it with the push of a button. There will also be times when you'll want to adjust harmonics depending on the song. Other typical summing amps don't have these options. Please don't be held hostage by a single tone. You are the captain of your sound.
