By meticulously examining every aspect—recording/playback mechanisms, motor operation, tape condition, preamp characteristics—they've perfectly recreated even the previously unknown mechanisms behind that iconic sound. The RE-202, a masterpiece of meticulous craftsmanship, pays utmost respect to the original, with meticulous attention paid to the panel layout and knob response. The iconic center MODE SELECTOR knob allows you to select from 12 playback head combinations. The addition of a fourth playback head, not present on the original, expands the range of Space Echo's signature, revealing five new variations. In addition to the original's Spring Reverb, you can choose from a total of five reverb types, including Hall, Plate, Room, and Ambience. The RE-202 also features a choice of NEW or AGED magnetic tape conditions, realistically recreating the unstable behavior of aging tape. The WOW & FLUTTER knob controls the natural modulation effect caused by unstable magnetic tape rotation, while the SATURATION knob adjusts magnetic saturation and preamp distortion. The gradual pitch change produced by turning the REPEAT RATE knob and the intense oscillation sound produced at maximum INTENSITY are truly Space Echo. Like the original, you can also convert the direct sound into a preamped sound, adding the distinctive essence of Space Echo to your sound. Modernized Functionality: The RE-202 offers numerous features essential for today's musicians. The REPEAT RATE can be extended up to twice the length of the original, allowing you to customize your sound to suit the modern music scene. You can also save your favorite settings and recall up to four memories internally or up to 127 via external MIDI control. The RE-202 also features a tap tempo function, allowing you to change the repeat rate to match the tempo of your song while you're playing. Press and hold the pedal on the unit to turn the REVERB on/off, or the aggressive TWIST and WARP effects on/off. Stereo input and output allow you to fully enjoy the expansive, iconic reverb. Input levels can also be optimized to match the connected device. Direct sound muting is also supported, making it ideal for live PA and other applications. The RE-202 external expansion unit features CTL1, 2, and EXP expansion jacks. Tap tempo, memory up/down, and the WARP and TWIST effects can be assigned to external footswitches.
