The hanging scroll, Joshinkin, is a Japanese-made scroll. It features a thick cardboard surface covered in a paper called honshi (main paper) featuring a Buddha image, surrounded by red and purple fabric. Each scroll is handmade in Kyoto. The combination of the principal image and the two attendant Buddhas varies by sect, so each scroll is enshrined with the appropriate principal image and the attendant Buddhas. Joyo Daishi is the founder of Eiheiji Temple (Dogen).
