This hanging scroll features an original Hasegawa design, depicting Amida Nyorai (Boat-standing Amida), the principal image of the Jodo sect. The principal image is the Buddha that each sect considers most ideal, and a pictorial representation of the Buddha is called a picture image. It is usually hung on the top shelf in the center of the Buddhist altar for worship. The vibrant silkscreened main paper (the image portion) is hand-mounted with multiple layers of fabric, creating a professional mounting.
