This is a side scroll from the Otani sect of Shinshu Buddhism (East). Compared to traditional hanging scrolls, it offers a neater display, making it ideal for modern and simple Buddhist altars. The name "Skala" comes from its slightly sloping design, with pointed ends on both sides, and its meaning of a "ladder" connecting us to the world of Buddha.
