This set includes hanging scrolls of Tendai Buddhist principal image and side image, along with a hanging scroll stand. The principal image, Amida Buddha (seated Amida), is usually hung in the center of the top shelf of the altar. Chisha Daishi (right), the founder of the Chinese Tendai sect, is enshrined on the right side of the top shelf of the altar. Dengyo Daishi (left), the founder of the sect (Saicho) who introduced Tendai Buddhism to Japan, is enshrined on the left side of the top shelf of the altar. The vibrant silkscreen paper (image portion) is professionally mounted by hand, with multiple layers of fabric applied.
