This ceramics series is from Mukaiyama Kiln, the largest kiln in the Kasama ware production area. This vase is inspired by canelés, a baked confectionery from the Bordeaux region of France, and its name means "grooved." Its size makes it easy to display large flowers. The design, created using the traditional Japanese technique of "shinogi," in which each piece is individually carved with a spatula to create ridges, creates three-dimensional lines that complement both traditional and modern styles.
