This standing statue of Amida Buddha is primarily worshipped as the principal image of the Jodo sect. The principal image is the ideal Buddha of each sect, and the statue was created as a representation of Buddhist teachings. It is enshrined in the center of the altar, at the top, so that the Buddha can watch over us from the highest point.
