This standing statue of Amida Buddha is worshipped as the principal image of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect. The principal image is the Buddha idealized by each sect, and is a Buddhist statue that embodies Buddhist teachings. It is enshrined in the center of the altar, at the top shelf, where the Buddha watches over us from the highest point.
