This standing statue of Amida Buddha is worshipped as the principal image of the Otani branch of Shinshu Buddhism. The principal image is the Buddha idealized by each sect, and is a Buddhist statue that embodies Buddhist teachings. It is enshrined in the center of the altar, at the top shelf, where the Buddha watches over us from the highest point. While some machines are used in the production of Buddhist statues, most are handcrafted by artisans. As a result, each statue is unique.
