This standing statue of Amida Buddha is enshrined as the principal image of the Otani branch of Shinshu Buddhism. The principal image is the Buddha that each sect considers to be the most ideal, and is a Buddhist statue that embodies Buddhist teachings. It is enshrined in the upper center of the altar, where the Buddha watches over us from the highest point. While some machines are used in the production of Buddhist statues, most are finished by hand by artisans. As a result, each statue is unique. Boxwood has a beautiful, smooth surface, and a smooth, glossy surface is said to be one of the requirements for a Buddha statue. In this sense, boxwood is an ideal material for Buddhist statues. Eye-insertion is a traditional technique dating back to the late Heian period, in which glass beads are embedded in the eyes of the face. Material: Boxwood. Product Dimensions (cm): Height 26.8 x Width 9.5 x Depth 8.5. Outer Box Dimensions (cm, g): Height 27.5 x Width 12.5 x Depth 11.5. Weight: 430g.
