Description (1,232 characters)
This is a plastic model that requires assembly and painting.
Tools, paint, etc. are required separately.
This is a 1/48 scale plastic model.
Kawanishi's proposal to modify the Kamifu seaplane fighter, which was then under development, into a local fighter was approved by the Navy, and a prototype was approved at the end of December 1941, provisionally named the "No. 1 Local Fighter.
" Powered by Nakajima's new Homare engine, the first prototype made its first flight on December 31, 1942, one year after development began.
The aircraft was subsequently renamed the "Shiden Shisei" (Shiden Experimental), and further development of prototypes was ordered.
The Shiden was a mid-wing monoplane, resulting in very long main landing gear and a complex two-stage retracting mechanism.
Its most distinctive feature was the automatic air combat flaps, inherited from the Kamifu, which lowered during air combat requiring greater lift and raised when the opposite situation arose.
The Shiden Type 11A (N1K1-Ja) was officially adopted in November 1944.The two 7.7mm machine guns in the nose were discontinued, leaving only the muzzles.
