The "f" also signifies this iconic model in Nikon's history. Light is the key to monochrome photography, where light and shadow create a unique world. The way the light hits the subject, the contrast with shadow, and the unique moments that emerge. Monochrome is not simply a world of black and white. It is a world expressed through the pure texture of light and shadow, composed of simple graphic elements such as shape and depth. It is precisely because there is less information that new perspectives emerge and the possibilities for expression expand. The Z f's Picture Controls include "Monochrome," which provides sharp, dynamic, high-contrast images; "Flat Monochrome," which provides smooth gradations from shadow to light, rich mid-tones, and a warm, soft impression; and "Deep Tone Monochrome," which darkens mid-tones while suppressing crushed blacks in the shadows. "Deep Tone Monochrome" has distinctive tonal characteristics and color sensitivity, with high sensitivity to red and low sensitivity to blue, enhancing the sense of shadow while darkening blue skies and brightening red flowers and lips. Picture Control and Creative Picture Control allow you to adjust colors and expression to suit your imagination. Not only are they easy to set, but you can instantly see the applied effects on the monitor. Create beautiful still images and videos that convey different emotions, atmospheres, temperatures, and tones in a unique way. Furthermore, Creative Picture Control's color intensity can be adjusted from 0 to 100, allowing for intuitive, detailed editing. A New Level of Detail - Pixel Shift Photography: Capture the intricate details of architectural decorations like ceiling paintings, the precise colors of fine art, and the intricate structures of insects and minerals with unimaginable immersion and texture. With pixel shift photography, the Z f captures a variety of scenes with a new level of resolution and fidelity, suppressing moiré, false colors, and noise. By slightly shifting the image sensor position—taking 4, 8, 16, or 32 frames—you can obtain more accurate color information. At 16 and 32 frames, you can achieve an astounding high resolution of approximately 96 megapixels. Captured RAW (NEF) images can be composited using NX Studio. Fixing the shutter speed during video recording: In scenes with rapidly changing brightness, we recommend fixing the shutter speed. Shutter-priority auto (S) mode is ideal for such situations. By controlling exposure with ISO sensitivity and aperture, flickering under fluorescent lighting is reduced. Even when moving from a dark to a bright area, changing the shutter speed won't make the subject appear unnatural, resulting in natural-looking video.
