This new sensor's high-speed readout, combined with the same high-speed EXPEED 7 image processing engine as the Z9 and Z8, enables Pre-Capture, which records up to one second prior to the full shutter button press, to shoot at up to 120 frames per second (C120). The 60 frames per second C60 also delivers full-frame shooting at approximately 24 megapixels, higher than the Z9 and Z8. Furthermore, during high-speed continuous shooting at 20 frames per second, the EVF display minimizes jumpiness, allowing you to see the subject's movement smoothly. 6K Video Shooting for Greater Video Production Flexibility: The new CMOS sensor with high-speed readout enables internal recording of 12-bit 6K N-RAW/ProRes RAW HQ, which can also be used flexibly for 4K video production, and shooting of 10-bit 5.4K ProRes 422/H.265 video. When producing 4K video or the increasingly popular Full HD vertical video format for smartphones, trimming, zooming, tracking, stabilization, and more are possible, providing greater editing flexibility. In addition, oversampling* from 6K enables the creation of high-resolution 4K UHD video. Despite its compact body, the camera's efficient heat dissipation design and power-saving video recording capabilities enable up to 125 minutes of 4K UHD/60p video recording. The EVF boasts the highest brightness of any mirrorless camera, exceeding the Z9 and Z8, at 4000 cd/m², providing a clear viewfinder image with minimal shadow crush, even in extremely bright outdoor scenes. It achieves Nikon's highest resolution of 5.76 million dots and is the first mirrorless camera to cover a color gamut equivalent to the DCI-P3 digital cinema standard. This allows for high-resolution subject visibility right to the edges of the image, reduces color saturation, which can easily occur with red flowers, and enhances the visibility of bright subjects such as illuminated lights when shooting with HLG. Performance, reliability, and operability inherited from higher-end models: The combination of a partially stacked CMOS sensor and the same high-speed image processing engine, "EXPEED7," as in flagship models, achieves a faster AF calculation cycle. It also supports nine subject detection modes, including "Airplane" mode. The low-light AF detection range has been expanded to -10EV, exceeding the Z9 and Z8, making it easier to focus in darker scenes and expanding the range of shooting scenes. The camera offers the same robustness and reliability as the Z8, including a VR lock mechanism to protect the image sensor from unexpected vibrations during transport and cold-weather resistance down to -10°C, supporting shooting in a variety of environments. The camera also inherits the extensive custom settings and dial position controls, as well as portrait shooting functions such as "Rich Tone Portrait," "Skin Softening," and "Portrait Adjustment" from the Z9 and Z8. New features further expand the scope of visual expression. The Z6III now supports the "Flexible Color" Picture Control, which allows users to freely create images with Nikon's PC viewing, development, and editing software, NX Studio. Features include a color blender that controls hue, saturation, and brightness for each color, and color grading that adjusts the combination of hue, saturation, and brightness for each brightness level, allowing users to intuitively adjust the colors they want to express. Settings created in NX Studio can be exported as custom Picture Controls and registered on the Z6III for use whenever shooting. Since settings are reflected in Live View during shooting, you can capture images while imagining the final result. Furthermore, the new service, Nikon Imaging Cloud, offers "imaging recipes," featuring custom Picture Controls recommended by Nikon and supervised by renowned creators. Up to nine recipes can be sent to the Z6III via Wi-Fi, allowing users to easily try out new creative expressions, even those inspired by their favorite creators, further expanding the enjoyment of visual expression.
