With the non-linear method, the focus shifts by a variable amount in response to the rotation speed of the focus ring, enabling agile focusing. With the linear method, the focus shifts by a fixed amount in response to the rotation of the focus ring. Furthermore, the rotation amount can be adjusted to suit the shooting scene, enabling intuitive and precise focusing like a mechanical lens when shooting video.
